Coming from California I was used to photographing in the sun. Great weather 85% of the time. Moving to Annecy I had the opportunity to photograph in all weather and I must say, yes the sun is great but lets talk about photographing in the snow. A bit cold for your camera but with proper planning, and certain tips, your camera does just fine. Snowy portraits allow all family members to have fun, I swear the child comes out in every adult. Smiles are real, even I can't help but smile from behind my camera.
When I had the request to photograph in La Clusaz, I absolutely said yes. I love traveling for photos and did this a lot in San Francisco. So if you are a family or couple coming to the Alps do not think Annecy is too far away, I embrace the quote: The Mountains are calling so I must Go. All locations are welcome.
For this photo session in La Clusaz, more specifically Les Confins, we had a 30 minute pause in weather and were able to get some incredible photos in the snow. Towards the end we even had the luck to get completely snowed on. Snowflakes the size of quarters were falling, and our laughter kept
us all warm.
