  4. Ewwww! Banana slug! Slugs gross me out. But giveaways don't!

My favorite memory of being surprised? When my hubby proposed to me after a month of dating. He didn't plan it at all, but we were sitting in our favorite tea shop, drinking a pot of licorice matte tea, and talking about our future, and all of a sudden he looked at me and said, "Stacey, will you marry me?" *Sigh*

  5. aw banana slugs are my brother's school's mascot! Isn't that a funny mascot?!

My favorite memory of being surprised was one night when I was in college. Matthew knew I was studying for this awful final and he came over and gave me a bag with red bulls, tea, chocolate, a candle and a funny book. It was the sweetest thing ever and we had only been dating a couple weeks!

  7. My favorite suprise would have to be in 2006. we had just found out that we were pregnant and some blood work did not look good, so we let carole know to get her opinion and she said we could come in on a saturday and do a secret early ultrasound if it would ease our minds. we did, and at 6 weeks pregnant, found out we were having twins!! (jamey was holding a few month old fiona, and almost dropped her!!)

  11. I'm a follower, I'm a follower!
I'd have to say one of the best surprises I ever had was...when my mom walked into the hospital after Noah was born. I was so tired, scared, nervous, exhausted (after 30+hs of labour and then a c-section) but I had been keeping a brave face for everyone. My mom walked in to my room ( I knew she would come, but I didn't know when) and I just burst out crying....it was such a surprise and such a welcomed visit.

  12. And the second best surprise I had (not better than the first, but just as good) was when I met my hubby. Why is that a surprise? Well I met him at a bar and I am surprised that I actually found a good guy at a bar! hehehe

  14. I know they are pretty cool!! Whenever I see one... I am just amazed because of how yellow they are. This little guy was sitting behind me, and I just happened to notice him/her. So, I guess you can say he surprised me. Hopefully, he/she didn't mind being photographed. :0 !!! xo

  16. my favorite surprise was when craig proposed. i had not a clue. literally. he wrote me a song, and i thought he had just written it to be nice, but it was part of the proposal. i interrupted the proposal and asked him to sing it again. and then as he gave his spiel and i still didn't get it. apparently he had the ring in hand the whole time, but i didn't even notice cause it was rainy and i had my hood up. silly me. it was a lovely surprise :).

  19. and the best surprise...was when years ago my mom was supposed to visit me in san francisco. i hadn't seen her in almost one year. i went to the airport and expected her to walk out there with her suitcase. what i didn't expect was to see my mom and my best friend walking towards me. :) you should have seen my face! i never expected that. mainly also b/c my friend told me she could not take time off from work and would not visit at all. which bummed me out, and then i saw her with my mom. awesome!!!! they'd been planning this for so long and i had no clue. the best moment and surprise ever. so far. of course, this doesn't top engagements and such but that has yet to come, so this was my surprise. :D

  20. My best surprise would have to be the day I got engaged to my now husband, Joe. He was in the Coast Guard at the time and stationed in Texas on the Gulf. I was in college in Irvine, CA and I was working at the campus library. I was just about to get off my morning shift and someone came downstairs where I was shelving books and told me someone was upstairs asking for me at the desk. I assumed it was probably one of my college friends stopping in to say hi. I never expected what came next. As I was walking upstairs I couldn't believe my eyes Joe was standing there with a dozen pink roses. I thought he was in Texas working and going about his life as normal. I didn't even know he was in the state. For a moment when I saw him I thought he was going to propose but he played it off that he just wanted to surprise and come visit for a couple of days so I went with that. He had booked a beautiful hotel suite on the beach in Huntington and had a whole fun day planned. It ended with dinner at one of the romantic restaurants along the water. I didn't think he was going to propose because I thought if he was gonna do it he would have already by then. He suggested going for a sunset walk along the beach after dinner and it was then that he got down on one knee, opened the box to the most perfect ring I have ever seen, and asked me to be his wife. (I was still so oblivious that when he first started going down on his one knee I thought his shoe was untied and he was tying it..lol) It was one of the best moments of my life and definitely the BEST surprise EVER. I even found out later that he had flew in the day before and had taken my parents out to dinner to let them know of his plans and to ask their blessing. I still get teary eyed thinking of all the work and effort he put into the proposal and he has definitely lived up to that moment in every way possible. We are living happily ever after ever since. <3

  21. Wow, I love your blog! Sooo cute. :) My favorite memory of being surprised?
We were going on vacation down south (TX, LA,AL,MS, etc..) and my mom had made a friend online. She was a middle-aged woman and had invited us to stay at her home when we went down.. Well, we went down and stayed with her and her family. It was sooo fun and such a delightful surprise. We only knew these people over the internet and phone, so it was quite a surprise to meet them in real life. :)
P.S. My mom had talked to other friends she knew who had stayed with this lady before, so it wasn't like we totally didn't know her or anything. ;)

Enter me in please! And have a safe trip! :)

  23. my favorite surprise... meeting my (now) husband on thanksgiving day my sister's house. it had been an awful year of blind dates and i had sworn off all men. i walked in the door and thought, who is this random dude? my brother-in-law had invited him for the holiday since he wasn't flying home to be with his family. we ended up hitting it off and as they say, the rest is history. i never tought i would meet my future husband over thanksgiving dinner!

  25. A banana slug! What a cutie!

One of my favorite surprises (besides getting engaged...although I was "sort of" expecting that) was Christmas morning when I was in college, after all the presents had been opened, mom said, OH! I forgot one for you. She ran to get a little box, the note inside said, "It's not in here, it's under the couch"... another box, "It's not in here, it's in such and such place", another box, "It's not in here, go out onto the porch." So I walk out to the porch in plain sight of the driveway, and there is a Bermuda Blue Chevy Tahoe sitting pretty with the biggest red bow on the hood!! I cried. Thanks dad :)

Great contest! I like reading the other comments.
